A Functional vision evaluation is an in-depth assessment of an individual’s maximum level of visual FUNCTIONING and its impact on their performance of everyday activities.
It specifically looks at the level of function (ability and stamina) in areas such as focusing accuracy, eye tracking accuracy, eye muscle coordination, and eye muscle range of motion, visual processing
speed, visual cognitive abilities and visual integration with other senses.
This assessment usually serves as a determination and baseline prior to starting a vision therapy program. It is recommended only after a comprehensive eye exam has been completed and it is not consider part of a standard exam.
Anyone who wants optimal performance in school work or sport will benefit from such an evaluation.
However it is most CRITICAL for those: struggling in school, diagnosed with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, stroke, visual stress from computer use,
sensory processing disorders. Please request a symptom survey for further details.
